Thank you all for an incredible year! I am going to miss this amazing group of students more than I can say. We have shared so many wonderful memories, lots of laughter, plenty of learning, and even a few bumps along the way that helped us grow together. It has truly been a privilege to be part of your child's journey this year. Watching each of them learn, grow, and become more confident has been one of the greatest joys of teaching. I know they all have bright, exciting futures ahead of them, and I can't wait to see all they accomplish. Thank you for trusting me with your incredible children and for your kindness and support throughout the year. I wish you all a safe, relaxing summer and all the very best in Grade 4!

Students explored the similarities and differences between myths and legends and started a triple Venn diagram to compare and contrast Hercules , Moana , and Brave . As we watched each movie, we identified characteristics of myths and legends and recorded evidence to support our thinking. We have begun filling in the third section of our Venn diagram with examples from Brave and will continue watching and analyzing the movie next week. Math: This week, we started our graphing unit and had lots of fun collecting, organizing, and analyzing data! Students learned about observations, surveys, and measurements, as well as the difference between first-hand and second-hand data. We explored tally charts, dot plots, line plots, bar graphs, pictographs, and pie charts by graphing our favourite animals, ice cream toppin...

You might also ask them what surprised them, what made the biggest impact on them, or what important lessons they learned from the story. We had many thoughtful discussions while reading, and this is a great opportunity for your child to share their learning with you. As part of our study of myths, students will explore how fictional texts can be grouped into different sub-genres, with a special focus on myths. We recently watched Hercules and examined the story of a legendary hero, including how Hercules is portrayed as a demigod. Next, we will watch Moana and Brave as we continue our exploration of myth-inspired stories. Please let me know if you have any concerns about watching these shows. As myth detectives, ...
