  Looking Back: Even though it was a short week, we accomplished a lot and picked up right where we left off with enthusiasm! Literacy: Phonics: Students have been exploring vowel teams and working to solidify their understanding. This can be quite challenging! Ask your child which vowel teams they learned this week and how many ways those vowel sounds can be decoded. Novel Study: We revisited Ollie’s Odyssey and the adventures of Billy and Ollie. The class was excited to dive back in! In September, our focus was on making connections (text-to-self, text-to-text, and text-to-world). For October and November, we’re shifting to visualizing —creating a “movie in the mind” while reading. This skill strengthens comprehension, retelling, and character analysis. Typing: We continue to build typing fluency. Please encourage your child to log into Google Classroom at home to keep practicing.   Inline Skating: We have had 2 sessions of inline skating so far.  The students have been thoroughly enjoying it.   Coming Up: Inline Skating in the Gym! We're excited to let you know that  Alien Inline Skating  will be starting a  residency in our gymnasium  for Grades 3, 4 and EES students starting Wednesday, October 1st.  This is a fantastic opportunity for students to build confidence, coordination, and have a ton of fun while learning to inline skate. A few important notes for skating days: Students are  encouraged to bring a CSA-approved helmet  (bike helmets are best).  I will post the schedule so you know what days to bring in helmets.  Please  do not send  full-face helmets, football helmets, or hockey helmets. If your child does not have a helmet,  one will be provided  for them. Since the gym will be used for skating,  all PE classes will continue to be held outdoors next week , weather...
